A new year has once again dawned upon us. I find myself searching for more and more outlets of creativity(read money) that I can expand into. This year, the comics will still be happening. Our hope and plan is to get them back onto a somewhat regular schedule, although this is something that I am going to have to work on once more. Also, I’m back into the swing of shooting and uploading stock footage. Alth0ugh I have yet to make a killing this way, it did give me an extra $100 or so last year, which is nice to have. I’ve been filming commercials out the wazoo, and weddings to boot, as well as a few small video projects on the side. It all works towards achieving one ultimate goal: paying down debt. Once I’ve got that down pat, I hope to be able to expand my business a little, which could (might) include taking on more work, and expanding into animation. We’ve already got a fun little animatic put together featuring the voices of Tom Kane and Steve Stone. It is posted bellow, so I suggest you take this opportunity to enjoy it thoroughly. It is my dream someday to complete the pilot. Ah, the pilot… Cheers!

And the story marches on, and on, and on! We’ve got a new page up, and another one is almost complete. We are trying very hard to get back onto a regular schedule here with our updates, folks, so fear not! Eventually, all will work as planned, and we will get back to a regular, twice a week update. Can you imagine such a world? I can! It is a world where milk and honey flow like water, and the streets are paved with gold (or cheese, I cannot remember which). Anywho, we will continue to fight the good fight, and our characters will continue to fight as well. So tell your friends! Tell your families! WTB Dignity is kikcin’ it old school, just like we used to.

So, I have been writing a lot lately. This should come as no surprise, considering that I am the writer of two different web comics. Well, comics aside, this is where I stand: I have finished a novel. It currently clocks in at 70,000 words, but I would like it to be 75k, at least. This will not be hard to do, but before I start throwing in paragraphs, I would like to go through a creative critique/edit. I already have a senior copy-editor lined up once I have this second draft finished, but I am still in need of the creative review first, followed by an unscrupulous round of polishing.

This brings me to my first major roadblock: creative reviews and edits cost money. Lots of money. Money that I do not have. Fortunately for me, my wife is particularly skilled at this, and will be helping me… that is, if she can ever find the strength of will to put down Game of Thrones for a day or two… my guess is no. So, sooner or later, the edits and feedback I need will be given, and I will be able to polish off my novel to a more finished format. Then, I can hand it off to the senior copy-editor, who will tear my grammar asunder, no doubt. After those fixes are made… then it’s off to pitch this bad-boy to some literary agents and agencies. So! Wish me luck and best of it and all that jazz. I’ve got a few solid leads that I am going to attempt to follow, but they’re little more than essentially cold-calling at this point.

Anyway, all of that aside, I am immensely proud of the work that I have done so far, and for having the tenacity to follow through and to actually finish a complete novel. It is something that I view as quite an accomplishment, and I look forward to doing it many more times. In fact, I already have a brief outline of the next book in my series that I am attempting to create. I am so excited I can hardly wait to get started on it.
